Turtle is the oldest symbol for the Earth and the personification of goddess energy. Turtle encourages us to connect to our most primal essence.
A great deal of mythology exists in regard to the turtle. In the Far East, the shell was a symbol of heaven, and the square underside was a symbol of earth. The turtle was an animal whose magic could help you unite heaven and earth within your own life.
To the Native Americans, Turtle was associated with the lunar cycle, due to the thirteen markings and sections on some turtles representing the thirteen full moons or thirteen new moons alternating each year.
Turtle is fine teacher of the art of grounding. It does not move fast, as if, on some level, it knows it has all the time in the world. Turtle can slow us down to help us see our opportunities and make steady progress Stick your neck out to see new ways ahead. Take your time and let the natural flow work for you. Turtle can teach us new perceptions about time and our relationship with it.
