After an appointment this afternoon I was bored and decided I would go into town and buy a Dalek, as one does. In the shop I found a number of very good Daleks from the Character Options Doctor Who Classics range that actually had a hidden button disguised as one of its hemispheres which, when pressed, caused the Dalek to speak. To be honest if someone squeezed one of my balls I'd have a few things to say too! Anyway, I chose the "Power of the Daleks" version because it just stood out to me as particularly wonderful and took it home so that I could take its picture.
I've recently replaced my desktop computer and I pulled the shutter off the old one's casing and wedged it between two boxes. Then I laid a piece of white card behind the vent in the shutter, popped an unshaded table lamp behind it and one in front of the whole setup. Then I stood the Dalek on the box in front of the shutter and took its picture with my cam's macro mode.
On the computer, I cleaned up the image and modified it slightly (the dome lights to clear rather than yellow and a larger white pupil in the eye) to make it look like the Daleks from the Big Finish "Dark Eyes" cover art (because I bought "Dark Eyes" recently and I absolutely adored it). Then I made a crop that I liked.

Doctor Who, as you all know and as I've often said, belongs to the Beeb. It costs money to make and market all the merchandise. If you never want the legend to end, please forget about all those illegal downloads and buy legitimate Who stuff. Let's keep the magic going, everyone!
