The Lantern

She walked to the edge of town searching high and low. She'd awakened from a strange dream, and was compelled to prove to herself there was nothing to it. The recent snow left the air crisp and her heart raced as she let the lantern guide the way. As she was preparing to give up she heard a voice overhead. A soft singing voice that seemed to call to her. She lifted her lantern over her head to see nothing.
