This work is based on the Belarusian legend about the Black Lady of Niasvizh (Čornaja Panna Niaśviža). You can read my brief retelling of that below.

So this story happened in the XVI-th century. The king of Poland and the Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund fell in love with noblewoman Barbara, who was heavenly beautiful. But mother of Sigismund - Bona Sforza - hated Barbara and didn't want him to marry her. So unfortunate couple had no choice but to get married secretly. When after a while the truth about their marriage came out, Bona Sforza was furious and she poisoned Barbara. Poor Barbara died and left Sigismund heartbroken. He was crushed after the death of his beloved Barbara and decided to get involved in a spiritism in order to call out her spirit. So he went to Niasvizh castle and there with help of sorcerers called out Barbara's spirit. Sorcerer have warned Sigismund that he should NOT touch the spirit, but Sigismund was so exited when the spirit of Barbara have appeared, that he rushed to hug her. And at that point Barbara has disappeared, the darkness and stench had filled the room...
After the spiritism the ghost of Barbara, called in our world by Sigismund, stays forever in Niasvizh. When the dark falls at night then the figure covered all in black passes through one of the corridors of the castle... :nuu:
